Good morning Cricket! I hope you got some well deserved rest last night. While the developers are still working closely with you is there a way to add a file depository to the site? If someone has a Sketchup file (or CAD) that they want to make available, or a STL file for a 3D print, or a Fusion360 file, and etc. for others to use, having them in a central location that you could search would be a huge help and benefit to members.

I could see where having plans and drawings, files for 3D printers, files for lasers, and files for CNC would be helpful. Also reference charts for metric conversions, bit sizes, spray tips, etc. could be added by members.

Is there going to be a members page like the old jocks tab? Also it would be nice to have a way to locate other members in our areas to connect with.
We may need to create a regional category/section for discussions related to specific areas.

If enough people are interested in this, I will get it set up.
I follow another forum and a lot of members will get together once a year or so within various geographical areas for a picnic or a "wingnight" to put faces and names together. I think years ago it happened occasionally on LJ too. The other forum that I follow has a campout coming up this weekend for members in five state area joining together. I know that there are at least five LJ members that live within 20 minutes of me and I'm sure that there are more. It would be fun to know who they are so we could possibly arrange to get together or a swap meet. Of course for that to work it would be necessary for members to add their location to their profile.

Somewhere in these 17 pages there was something about how to go directly to unread posts in threads, but I can't find it again. I go to NEW (New Posts), but when I click on a thread, it does not go to the first unread post, it goes to the very first post in the thread. I looked in FAQ, but didn't find the instructions there.
Select the "New" icon. If you only want to see new posts then select "New Posts", then directly under that is the drop down for "Filters", open the drop down and place a check in the "Unread discussions" box. I hope this helps.

I was able to remove 36 that way, 299 more that won't.
Looks like you'll have to do it page by page, 35 per page so 8 and a half more times
In your Conversations tab go to page 1 and over on the right side place a check in all the boxes that you want to perform an action for, then go to page 2 and do the same, go to page 3, etc. Once you are done choose your action down at the bottom. Note: you can also "Select All" and it will select all from that page. I hope this helps.

I'm like you Mosquito, I'm on a 34" wide screen monitor and the images are huge; I usually shrink LJ down to a split screen before I open a project page or a journal. Threads are fine because the images are much smaller, except for that giant laser-cut mosquito that you just posted, but I understand that you're from MN and that was actual size.:ROFLMAO:

The main thing I dislike is it's now all about the talk, the projects aren't as relevant as they were. And that is just wrong.
Hairy, The first thing I do every day is head to the Projects page. There have been 46 new projects posted in the past 8 days. I would say that is pretty good. The quality of the photos are incredible, you can see the detail now. EDIT: And 11 new Journals and 1 new Workshop.

sras and Lazyman, I may have figured "prefixes" out. Prefixes have only been used since the changeover to the new software. When you add a new Project you can now add a Prefix (but we still aren't sure what a Prefix is). You won't find any projects using a prefix as a filter that was posted before Sept. 20, 2022.
  • If you do a search for "chair" and select Projects in Prefixes, and leave the Categories blank or choose All categories, you will get 9 results. All 9 results have been added since the software change on 9/20/22.
  • If you do a search for "chair" and leave Prefixes blank or choose Any, and in Categories choose Projects, you will get 500 results.

Unless there are prefixes different than category, I don't see how they could do anything but restrict the results to items posted after the conversion.
Exactly. If you choose use "Projects" as a filter in Prefixes and the prefix is blank, it won't show up in the results. None of the projects posted on 9/20/22 or earlier have prefixes because they didn't exist so they won't show up if you use any of the assigned prefix groups. You must leave the Prefix filter as "any" if you want to search all history.

WHERE can anyone find anyone else's "workshop"? Very UN-workable at this moment... I cannot even find MY OWN workshop...

And NO, I do not plan on reading +76 pages of entries "hoping" to find an answer. Sorry... This latest "fix" is nothing such.
Hi Mike - Click on Workshops in the brown bar on the main page. Also here is a great resource of FAQ's that will answer most questions and help you navigate the site: FAQ's

Matt, do you have any examples of what you are looking for? A subject or a title would help. I have had reasonable luck in locating older material. One way is to go into your profile and find "Discussions Created". Currently it shows you have 134 of them. With your mouse click on the number "134" and it will pull them up.
