I have the Talon and really like it, but I think if I was going for oe now, the Easy Wood would get serious consideration. Better yet, through today Craft Supplies has 20% off on them, making their price a little easier to swallow.

I have Novas (G3 and SN2) and the G3 should handle anything your lathe will.
ToolsPlus has the G3 for $108 and free shipping. You will need an insert to fit your lathe.

I have used some of the others but do not own them so my experience is limited with them.

I have a Nova midi and it works great but if I buy another it will probably be a G3 or similar so I don't have to mess with the tommy bars. When it comes to the major brands, most people like what they have which tells me they are all equal in quality although individuals may have preferences. The economy chucks like PSI get mixed but mostly good reviews.

The Nova series of chucks is a great way to go IMHO. I have three that I have moved from a midi lathe to a larger lathe and now to a Nova DVR 3000. The chucks all use the same jaws so the jaw sets are interchangeable to every chuck. I now own three chucks and will get more. Just my two cents worth. Good luck whichever way you go.

I have a PSI Utility chuck (the one that uses tommy bars), and two Nova G3's.

I like and prefer the Nova chucks … only use the PSI on rare occasions.

One of my chucks came with the NOVA Mini Jaws Package ( http://www.teknatool.com/products/chuck_accessories/Mini_jaw_set.htm ) in addition to the #2 jaws that come standard with each chuck. As ldubia points out, the Nova jaws are all interchangeable.
