try bell forest products.. I personaly wouldn't use oak even though it is a hardwood. It has a open grain. I would use hard maple or Jotba. There are end grain kits through bell forest for 36.75 plus shipping. I have used them for wood. And if you have seen any pod casts from the wood whisper he uses wood from them also..

You don't mention how thick you need the Purpleheart to be or how much of the board will be made from PH, so after you figure it out , Google Purpleheart dealers in your area. It doesn't sound like you'll need enough to justify shipping charges , so you might as well shop locally.

I mentioned using Oak because i have seen other people on here make cutting boards out of oak . And i have about 400 board ft in a barn. I would like to use it if possible and save me from buying more wood
