Here is a Youtube video that someone made from the Woodsmith plans, with some modifications.
I have an Incra router table w/fence - I use their system. However, before I purchased that, I made some simple box joint jigs that adapted to my miter gauge. From what I see from the Woodsmith kit, I would probably use that if I didn't have my Incra system.
You can make your own box joint jig by making a miter sled with a slot, an indexing pin, and a spacer. It took me about an hour to make one that does a perfect job. Make sure you note the exact stacked dado blade configuration you use.
