I was walking out of the grocery store tonight when the front page of the Baltimore Sun caught my eye. Black and Decker plans to merge with Stanley Works. Don't know if anyone else saw this already. Here's the online article.

My concern is Delta and Porter-Cable. We already saw their product lines diminish in favor of DeWalt when in my opinion the like products of Delta and PC were better. I hope Delta isn't forced to take "cost savings" on the chin. I've already lost a number of my contacts at Delta in the past year.

Most of these major mergers just result in bigger companies…not at all better ones. Color me skeptical that this will remotely work out for either.

Well the thing I'm going to hate to see is that there will be a lot of jobs in this area that will be lost due to the merger.
