I don't normally post this type of thread but I ran across some boards and I'd love to know what they are :

I'm more than tempted to say it's cherry because of the character and the sapwood . . .

..But there's just something about the color that looks more like, say, cedar (it has no cedar smell, but there's no telling how old it is). I feel like it's a hardwood but I don't know. I don't know where it came from .. domestic or imported.

100% sure that it is cherry. That ray fleck is distinctive. Sycamore has a much more dramatic ray fleck. Here is the ray fleck in sycamore:
