Morning all -

So I finally got around to getting this off the ground and in air (somewhat). I did some reading and saw where some folks are hit and miss as to if they want it on the all or hanging. I can do either, but figured this was just a good as spot as any and it's more out of the than if I hung it.

However...when I turn it on, by design, it blows some of the air down onto the peg board. And this thing moves some air, even on low. So my questions to y'all are:

• Should I go ahead and hang it, does it make it more efficient?
• Should I just stick something up there to deflect the air off the pegboard?

And yes, the walls will get some attention eventually...only been in there 6 months

I would think it is best located where it will suck in fine floating dust from operations like sanding. It's the suspended particles that you are after with that filter. It may well work good enough where it is at. For sure you don't want it blowing particles into the air with the discharge side though so if discharge is blowing TOWARDS your typical work area I would say that is not good.

Thanks Jim. It does blow away from everything and seems like it will actually help circulate the a/c and heat. Just hated the exhaust blowing everywhere

I have the same unit suspended from my ceiling. I have 10' 6" ceilings so it's out of the way. I have the unit positioned so the intake is over the area where I generally work and the output is towards an area where things are generally stored. When I'm in the shop I run it on medium, when I leave the shop I turn it up to high for two hours. If the doors are open to outside I don't bother turning it on. I have a decent central dust collection system and an excellent portable dust collection system so I don't generate much dust at all. I use two pre-filters prior to the cloth bag. The outer one is a general purpose one, the inner is a much better quality as far as microns go. When I researched the placement I kept reading that you want as much unrestricted air flow as possible on as many sides as possible. Hanging from the ceiling I only have restricted airflow from one side (above it) but it is 6" below the ceiling. In your set up it's restricted from 2 sides which makes it slightly less efficient, but I'm sure that it still works fine.

Think I’m going to hang it from the ceiling and see. Will probably do better being able to get dust from all sides. And it’s in a spot where it should collect what the dust collector doesn’t get. Plus it won’t be blowing downward unnecessarily!

I have one hanging like that from the ceiling and one underneath my out-feed table. They seem to do a good job together.

I have a small shop. My wife saw this on one of the HGTV shows: box fan, bungee cord and furnace filter. I'm amazed at what it removes.
