Since I started woodworking one of the first projects I wanted to do was an adirondack chair. I finally started a couple of weeks ago. The plan is to make two full size chairs and one scaled down version for my daughter that is going to be here in the next couple of days or weeks. The first weekend I started by making full sized templates in 1/2 " mdf. The second weekend (I may have skipped one or two where I did nothing related to these chairs) I rough cut some of the stuff and finish cut the rest. I then finished some of the parts using a flush trim bit and the templates. After I got home from work today I decided to start putting one together. The pics are from today.

It just took me 1 1/2 hours to upload those photos. Still didn't get the photos right.

Looks like you're doing a good job on the chairs.

I'd recomend using Photobucket and follow the instructions on LJ's for a better solution for your photos. Also can have them linked so that they show up automatically so your audience doesn't have to click on your link to see them. Also set size your images to 300 dpi or less so that they will fit on the screen.

Thanks everyone. Joe - I wasn't able to upload the photos on photobucket last night on our laptop. I tried at work and no problem. I just tried again on the laptop and no go. I will try on our other computer and see what happens. I think there are some settings on this computer ( I'm on the laptop now) that are interfering with being able to upload photos. I'll probably spend the better part of tonight trying to figure it out.

Final assembly of chair #1

I got in a couple of hours today working on my adirondack chairs. I marked the location for the arm brackets and clamped them in place before screwing them. I took out the screws, added glue and then reassembled.

The next step was attaching the arms. A 3/4" scrap was clamped into place to make things easier to line up.

After the arms were in place I clamped the upper back support in place before adding four 1/4" carriage bolts (two per arm).

Finally, I was able to add back slats …

then seat slats.

I still have to plug all the holes and paint the chair. Then on to the next one.
