I have this planer for a couple of years now, it is the one with a helical cutter. So far it has been pretty good and I have had no complaints with it. But today the belt that turns the cutter head and the feeder rollers broke. Once I realized the problem I found what numbers I could off of the belt and emailed all the info to Steel City to get them to send me a new one. Shortly after sending the email I got a reply. The email said that as of midnight last night they have closed their doors and are not in business anymore. I have done a search on google trying to find this belt and I have not been able as of yet that is a complete match. I have found a couple that matched the 135J on the belt but not the next four numbers. Since nothing matches exactly I was afraid to order it sight unseen. Has anyone ordered a belt for a Steel City Planer from someone else other than Steel City? My planer is the 40200H model. Any ideas on replacing the belt will be greatly appreciated.

Call General International they have the same planer with their name on it and I read elsewhere that they are going to handle Steel city issues and parts. Check this out http://www.ereplacementparts.com/drive-belt-p-148419.html. Also looks like Rikon Part Number also is the same P25-130H-66

Thanks for the help. Looks like the belt in the link might work. It does fit the Rigid Planer that Brad said was the same as Steel City. It gives me some to check out today. Thanks again for the help. I was a little ticked at the luck of needing a part the day after the company closes. :)

Unless GI bought the SC's assets from Normand in Canada, and/or made an agreement since 3/31/15 , they won't be handling parts or issues. That's just a uninformed someone blowing smoke you know where.

Sincerely,
M. (former SC TS Mgr)

If you are looking for parts, or the planers themselves, the factory that made them for everyone (SC, Ridgid, GI) is now selling direct to the US. Search for Cutech Tool planers. They also have the 40200H belts in stock and have free shipping on everything until the end of July.

P.S. Keep an ear out on GI. Heard they "might" be having some problems too.
