I’ve always wanted an adjustable metal compass plane. However I’ve never held or seen one in person let alone know how to compare the old stanley models to the newer kunz model. any help or input or tips on how to get one that won’t need a lot of work and maybe stays under 500 dollars. how do bring you use your most special lumber ? - 26 replies

Often in a project i have to resist using my best and most rare wood in favor of using my more vanilla lumber. I’ll use a special piece for a small focal point but I have trouble breaking into my large stash of pomelle sapelle koa Madagascar rosewood etc. What techniques do you guys use to plow forward with the best materials you got ?
