  6. Scroll Saw cut Sign

As I managed to quit smoking last year, I decided that I should "reward" myself by buying a Scroll Saw. I'm a COMPLETE NEWBIE to Scroll Sawing, so I designed and made this little sign as a "practice piece". I'm quite pleased with how it came out. Keith.
  7. Clamp Rack for Parallel Bar Clamps

I came across this clamp rack on the Wood Whisperer website a couple years ago. I recently got so frustrated with my clamp disorganization that I broke down and designed my own spin off to fit exactly 16 clamps that I own. I am please with the way it came out and it seems to be plenty sturdy...

  12. Designing Woodworking Projects
Hello, I've decided that I'd like to make some end grain cutting boards for christmas gifts (using the Wood Whisperer's method) but before I head out to the wood store, I have two questions. Before I ask them, I must confess that I am fairly new at working with hardwoods. 1. In his videos...
  13. Woodworking Skill Share
I know black walnut (Juglans *************************) and sugar maple (Acer saccharum) are old favorites, but I'm really looking for a few more colors to work with in end-grain cutting boards. There are plenty of beautiful exotic imports that really aren't very safe. Ideally, I'd like a handful of additional...
  14. Designing Woodworking Projects
Need a little help from some more visionary or artistic LumberJocks out there. I'm planning on making some holiday gifts very soon. Specifically, three candle boxes, one inlaid cutting board, a few inlaid trivets, and several of those nifty business card holders that have been posted here...

One of the guys here recently raised a question about staining poplar and in doing a little research I found this link, that you also might find useful. http://www.hardwoodinfo.com/species_guide/display_species.asp
  16. Power Tools, Hardware and Accessories
So recently I purchased this moisture meter because it was cheap. Since I'm also cheap it seemed like a good fit… It has four settings to chose from for the species group, but unfortunately the sample groups are not very large. Here is the current list that came with the meter: A: Teak...
  17. Wood & Lumber
Hello all, Please help settle a bet. ID the species of wood on top of this antique drafting table. My father-in-law and I have a growler of beer riding on it. Thanks!
  18. Designing Woodworking Projects
I recently demo'd a wall in my home separating my living room from kitchen. My thought behind it is to create a "breakfast nook" to be able to sit and watch tv from the kitchen. I am tossing around the idea of building a butcher block countertop for the opening and I don't want to spend a...
  19. Wood & Lumber
What type of wood is this? This is floor joists and beams from a warehouse in MS, built in 1945. It has a dark patina. I thought it was pine but maybe cypress.
  20. Wood & Lumber
I recently bought a bunch of wood from Craigslist and need help identifying the type of wood that is in the pictures. It is an open-grained wood, kind of like mahogany, but a lighter brown than the mahogany I've used in the past. It turns a deep rich brown after boiled linseed oil application...
