  1. Projects Segmented Bowl for Turning Swap

This was my entry for the 2023 LJ’s Turning Swap. I’ve never done a segmented bowl, but I kind of had an idea what I wanted to do with it. As the idea evolved, I had the idea to add some epoxy and create sort of flowers or Lolly pops (or something) up the sides of the bowl. In retrospect, lining...

This is a segmented platter I made from scraps that were going to the kindling box… There are several woods in this project; Ash, Oak and Walnut. Its diameter is about 14" and it makes for an interesting serving tray. My lathe is a cheapie cheapo from Harbor Freight but it serves the purpose and...

  8. My very first Segmented bowl

I've been itching to try one of these for a couple of years now and finally convinced myself that I could do it last week. My first 5 or 6 attempts at cutting segments did not go well but finally I got the angle right. My equipment is obviously not as accurate as I thought. I made 4 X 12 segment...

  14. Segmented Bowl - Getting Better...

My brother is getting married on Saturday, and as a wedding gift I made him my second segmented bowl. The bowl is 11 inches wide, and approx 4 inches tall. The first one I made was too tall and not wide enough. I like these dimensions a lot better. All layers except the feature layer have 12...
