I made two of these for my wife's nephews several years ago. They have held up pretty well and have been passed down to their younger siblings now.

This rocker is made from cherry with African Purple Heart on the back spindles, wrapped around the joints, inlayed into the runners and used for plugs. An ottoman was created that also incorporated the purple heart with the cherry. We weren't quite sure how this combination would turn out, but...
