  1. Boxes Galore!

For several months I have been working on some new designs based on Andy's palm boxes. It's been a blast coming up with the designs, although all of them are at least based on ideas I have seen here. I learned a long time ago there is seldom a totally new idea in woodworking, just our own...
  2. Arty farty Pen boxes

I've been making butt jointed pen boxes for some time now. Simple and straightforward, similar in construction to Andy's "palm boxes, I regularly supply a craft gallery with them. My boxes are all around 200 mm long. After Andy recently posted his beautiful Palm boxes, I got all fired up to...
  3. "Curve" Palm Box

What can I say, these palm boxes are addictive. I had some curly maple left over so I cut a curve in my walnut and glued in a piece of maple. I then proceeded to make another palm box. I finished it with Watco and renaissance wax. Again, Thanks Andy for the inspiration.
  4. Music

I was asked to make a box for a friend ( Ardel ) to hold her new hearing aids and this is what I came up with. It needed to be small enough to fit in a purse, but still managable for elderly hands. The lid split @ the hinge location on the first one, so I started over after salvaging the body. I...

A couple months back my mother called me up and said "Remember that redwood box you made me, well Zoey was playing with it and…" and my heart stopped. First thing through my mind was that my five year old niece, Zoey, had broken the first box I was really proud of and a gift to my mother...

  9. 3 more Andy Palm Boxes #1 Cherry

This box is made with figured Sapele on the front and back, Cherry on the ends and top and Genuine mahogany on the bottom. The Cherry boards in the picture had some kind of defect. It went through the middle of the planks and almost looks like bark. This top came from the board on the right. I...
  10. A Couple Of Palm Boxes

I had a few pieces of wood sitting on my bench for a while now that were a little to small to use but I knew I would be able to work them in someday. Well the Andy style Palm Box was just about the right size. The top on the first box came off of a piece of firewood that I'm not sure what it...

  12. Having Fun With Palm Boxes....

I been wanting to try my hand at these neat little palm boxes since I seen Andy's project dubbed "Radio Days". Not long after that he went through the trouble of creating a tutorial on how he did it. Although I will be honest in saying that I didn't read or follow his exact directions to the...

Tim and Dianne are the kind of neighbors you love to have. Always ready to lend a hand and very handy at everything from blowing out your sprinklers for the winter to throwing an awesome block party. So at the July 4th picnic, Tim mentioned that the decrepit red maple in their front yard had...
