  2. Barstool Stone Inlays

I was given a pair of old bar stools by customer and asked if I could "save" them. They were in pretty tough shape and had, at some point in their life, been given a haphazard and unfortunate coat of stain (far more "Molting Hyena" than "Dark Walnut"). Normally I build everything that I do...

  4. Mystery Box

This project was made at the request of my son and future daughter-in-law for their wedding reception. It was made to receive cards and notes from guests. I built it as a "mystery box" that looks like it has no way of being opened. It makes use of what is known as a "shaker latch" of the type...

  6. Chair / stool

One of my friends brought back a chair / stool from Egypt and let me take measurements. The first two pics are my prototype made from poplar, with the third being made for my son out of oak. The beauty of this is that it actually looks like a chair or a stool.
  7. I CAN READ THIS -IT'S BIG !

Just a sliding block I made to hold 2 framing squares together to act as a large caliper . I made this from 7/16" oak flooring scrap and some jatoba offcuts . To lock the squares together I use a simple quick clamp which provides a good lock and lets me move the caliper without loosing my...

Here is a step stool I built for my son Emerick. Wood was saved from being tossed in the dumpster at work. 1/2" red oak which made the stool fairly light weight, even a two year old can move it around on his own. Dovetail joinery. I tend to personalize a lot of gifts I give by carving the...

  10. Jewelry Tree

These are pretty easy to do and the women like them. On this one the inlay came out really nice , it helps that the log was cracked just right. The inlay material I used this time was a little different . I used Turquoise , Malachite , Red Coral and few pieces of Jade. What I learned is that...
  11. Unique Band Saw Box

This is the first bandsaw box that I made completely of my own design (instead of Lois Ventura's). I wanted to make something special for my daughter for her graduation from college at the U. of S. Carolina. I had this idea and was able to make it work. The drawers are very small, but could be...

  15. The coffee scoop experiment

After seeing bearpie's beautiful scoops, I thought I would try my hand at it so…. This is my sad attempt at carving a coffee scoop. A friend had made some boat seats recently modeled after an old tractor seat, he told me he shaped them with an angle grinder. So i tried it. I have to say, it was...

I was debating what to get my grandmother for Christmas this year when my Mom told me she had picked out a table at London Drugs…RIGHT like I'm gonna do that, so I took the basic proportions and built a table for her.
