  2. Mallet Swap 2014

My turned mallet for the swap - made of oak, purpleheart and cherry. I carve out an oval shape of the middle piece of cherry and filled it with lead bb's (slinky maker for fishing), you can hear the bb's when you swing the mallet. I actually did a test mallet because I wasn't sure how well...
  3. Mallet Swap 2014

Been an exciting day for mallets to be sure… Here is the mallet that I made for Dan aka 489tad. The head is Bubinga and Rock Maple with an Ipe exterior. The handle is Hickory with Purpleheart wedge and Bamboo? pins. Had this in a number of states of finish as it was uncommonly completed well...
  4. Bird's Eye Maple and Walnut Mallet

Made this mallet for jeff82780. The head is birds-eye maple and the handle is walnut. There's also a walnut strip going through the center of the head. It's a bit light-weight rather than a large mallet like others have posted.

Montana, especially the Missoula area, is full of rivers, fly fishing and beer. 1- Bottle...

  7. Turned Mallet for Swap 2014

Here is my contribution to the Mallet Swap. I sent this one to Woodmaster1 in Indiana. The head is made from Macawood and the handle is White Oak. The head is a two piece lamination in which I cut a dovetail in each before gluing to hold the handle so there is no chance of the head flying off...

  9. Swap Mallet 2014

This was my submission for the 2014 LJ Mallet Swap. My first project other than tool restorations so I was pretty intimidated by the level of craftsmanship presented by my fellow LJ's and previous swaps. I'd had several scrap size pieces of maple from reclaimed lumber my dad had given me some...
