I just completed my 24" V-Drum sander with the help of a 24" kit from Stockroom Supply. The kit contained the drum, pulleys, link belt, pillow blocks and mounting brackets as well as plans for the box and top. The box was easy to build and went together fast. I took a little more time on the top...
Well, this was my first project. I guess I didn't buy into the start small theory. The Headboard and Footboard of this queen size bed were made from red oak, stained, then several coats of poly to finish. I didn't know really anything about woodworking going into this project, just what I had...
Here it is, the power computer lift for my original stand finished. It works great. In the one photo you can see the little box with the control switch. It is powered by a 9v. power supply. The drive is a small surplus DC gear head motor. I never liked moving the lid on the hinge that much so...
First time making breadboards, and first time ebonizing oak! 100% hand tools. It's pretty terrifying to rub steel wool and apple cider vinegar all over your finished project, but i'm happy i took the chance. Love how dark the finish turned out.
I made a video of the process if anyone is interested:
So we moved into a new home that has a bar in the basement complete with an entertainment area. Lots of boxes filled with books and nowhere to put the TV. So the solution was to create a TV stand in the corner with a bookcase on both sides. Simple construction, 3 - 4'X4' sheets of 3/4" plywood...
With three adult children and grandchildren coming to visit, my Dad decided that since he felt like he was running a hotel it should be provisioned like a hotel and asked me to make some luggage holders for the guest bedrooms to make life a little easier for all concerned… and here is the...
This is a sushi bowl in my tie dye series. It rests on macsur ebony. It is 8 inches in diameter. The technique is the same with the exception of the yellow interior of the bowl. I flashed the dye on the bare wood then laquered the piece.
A long but extremely fun journey. The table is shown in my other project/blog. Chairs now completed and delivered. Wood is Jatoba with ebony inlays and an olive wood burl veneer on the top of the table cabinet. All loose tenon joinery.
Thanks for looking. Enjoy.
This workbench is my 60-th birthday present (Today September 14, 2015). I worked all through the summer to build it. Now that I know what I am doing I think I could build it in 3 or 4 weeks if I had no distractions, all the lumber, and the hardware.
I'm not affiliated with Rikon, just another happy customer.
I just received news that Rikon in Billerica, MA is having another one of their Scratch&Dent Sale this coming Friday, and thought some lumberjocks might be interested, and might be able to utilize this opportunity to get good quality...

I have been looking around at different woodworking machinery lately. It appears some brands of machinery are very similar looking, but with different names on them. I live in New Zealand, so the brands that we see are different to those often discussed here on LJ's (mostly US stuff)...
I thought this was an amazing tool that I'd surely love to try!! It's like a combination of modern and traditional woodworking techniques; The ease of power tools mixed with the superior finish of hand tools. For lazy folks like me, it beats getting all sweaty using a jointer plane. The noise...

Hi everyone, have been following this forum for awhile now and am having a hard time making a choice on a jointer.
I cant decide between a new Ridgid 6" ,new Grizzly 6" with knock down stand or a used Delta DJ-15 asking price 495$.
I just bought this planer from a guy who is retiring from his cabinet shop. This thing is so heavy! It seems to be built like a tank. Paid $250 for it. I need some assistance with finding a manual please. Also, do you guys think I got a good deal?
Hi all, when you're a beginning woodworker looking to buy a new machine, it can be tricky to make sense of all the different brands and figuring out whether they make machines that are right for you.
With that in mind I made a simple interactive tool to rank brands and find out which brands you...
