  1. Wooden Car Hauler

Little Guys always like toy trucks, especially if their daddy is a truck driver. Here is a car hauler I made for Bubby, my grandson. I used plans from ToymakingPlans.com (a great site), and a piece of 2" X 8" pine board. The plans were very simple to follow and it allowed me to create this...
  2. Special Pen

Another pen casting with Liquid Diamonds resin and watch parts. This is a very special pen, as the parts came from the watch that belonged to my Father who passed away on Sept 10 1972 at 4:20 pm. I incorporated these details in laying out the parts for casting. The time on the watch is set to...

  4. Resaw Bandsaw renovation

A couple of friends of mine gave me some "mini logs" when they cut down a back yard pear tree and a redwood. I wanted to turn these into lumber but it just seemed too difficult and dangerous to do on my old stock Hitachi Resaw Bandsaw. After a lot of head scratching, I came up with the idea to...
  5. Claro walnut slab entry table

About 15 years ago I bought 2 big claro walnut slabs and promised that I'd touch them only when I had gained enough experience to build a project worthy of such beautiful wood. Here's the result from the first one. The design is inspired by a table built by Mark of The Craftsman's Path...

  8. A Groovy, Seussy Gift!

This was Kenny's anniversary present to me, which I am and always will be absolutely amazed by, every time I look at it! (It reminds me of something that wouldn't look out of place in a Dr. Seuss book.) I'm using it as a pencil holder now, although I did try it out with my woodburning pens and...
  9. Dimmer Switch Knob

A brief afternoon entertainment in a 28 degree shop, this dimmer switch knob of burly walnut is on it's way to the State of Washington. The five leaf flower is intentionally irregular to mimic the real flower it was patterned after. The name of the flower is unknown to the Internet...

  11. Safety in the Woodworking Shop
I have a 20" Powermatic Planer and I wanted to know what everyone's thoughts are on the best coating for long term lubrication on the table. I've heard wax is bad due to friction/heat build up and then it slows parts down. I know GlideCote formally knows as TopCote works well, but I wanted to...

I just got my hands on a 1940's era Craftsman (Parks) planer. I am excited to use it but I wanted to find out how to lubricate the gears? Should there be some type of grease or oil permanently in the gear case? If so, what type? What other else needs to be lubricated on this gem? Thanks!

As I am slowly (the operative word) cleaning up the Rockwell 11-280 DP I have, I noticed the following notice on the motor: "LUBRICATION:After 2 years of normal operation add annually 1/2 teaspoon electric motor oil OR SAE 10 to each BRG." I am not sure what exactly BRG stands for but I am...

Hi gang. I am confused on the necessary lubrication on the used plane I just got. It's a 1995 powermatic 15. The pics show the gear box. I get that except how much oil to put in.
