  1. Basket weave Cutting Board

Got this idea from Duckarrowtypes. Made it for my wife for christmas. She was a bit nervouse to use it. In the end she did, and she loves it! Worked out great, just had to pay particular attention to sizing. Glue up took about an hr. the final size is 13×20. Woods are; figured maple...
  2. Airplane Rocker (Thanks to Herbiej)

About a year ago fellow LJ Herbiej posted this project and I ask if he would tell me where he got the pattern. He actually made the pattern from an old toy he found and was kind enough to copy it and mail it the copy to me. Being a man of action I got right to work and a year later I finally...

  4. My turn (Another end grain cutting board)

I decided to make my Mom this end grain cutting board for Christmas. It had been a while since I was last in the workshop, and I was looking for a fun project to get me back in the swing of things. The plan and pattern are from the Wood magazine October 2006 issue.
  5. Pittsburgh, Wilmerding and Homstead Locomotive Model

This is the last of three model locomotives that I have "carved", really I carved, turned and fashioned dozen of little pieces and glued them together. The first two were done to honor the 20th year of service of my two bosses. This one is for ME! The PH&W (Pittsburgh, Wilmerding and...
  6. WHAT TO DO ?

This is my new router table /planer table combination stand and I used LEGO as a model to visualize the idea . The idea is to save space and organize the shop better by keeping all the routers and accessories close at hand . The stand is made from four torsion boxes ,two sides the bottom and the...
  7. Live edge Spalted Maple coffee table with turquoise and blue lapis inlays.

  8. Supersized Andy's box

Someone, who saw the box that I made about a year ago, asked me if I can make one that holds 20 watches. And I said O.K. This box is 13.5 in X 8.5 in X 5.5 in high. It was made with figured Maple and Walnut and it was lined with suede. Finished with Shellac as base coat and Deft Lacquer as top coat.
  9. Restaurant style high chair

So… I picked up a counter height table and chairs set from Sam's for Christmas. Less than $300 - couldn't make it for that AND my wife really liked it. Even though me and my wife do not have children, the problem is, whenever we have friends over for dinner, if they have kids we have to roll...
  10. Crib of dyed poplar

Made this with my father in law over the course of about a month as my first son was just recently born. The entire structure is made of poplar. Joinery for the rails is mortise and tenon. Dowels and large lag screws attach the four sides (so it can be disassembled). The back is poplar plywood...
  11. Cherry and maple dresser

This dresser is eventually going to be part of a bedroom set (matches the nightstand/end-table project I did prior to this), but for now it's home to our TV and kid's toys. I started of meaning well on this project, and completed the shell in about a month, however, because of school/work/life...

Hello friends, I thank you kindly for all of your past comments on my Japanese Gift Box project, it is always great to hear from all of you. Thank you! This was a project I toyed with off and on the last 2 months and decided to finish it and share with the group. This was a small spoon that I...

I decided to try my hand at an acoustic. It turned out pretty well. California Laural, Alaskan Yellow Cedar top, mahogany bolt on neck, cocobolo fretboard, ebony bridge and headstock overlay, bone saddle and nut. Sounds good but volume could be better.

  15. Long Boards

Let me start by saying, I do not skate board. I want to make sure I am not associated with skate boarders and as a disclaimer, I didn't know much about them. They are all re-sawn Oak plys. My brothers in law wanted to get into long boarding. I decided to tackle the challenge of making a pair...
  16. Country Hutch

As a hobbyist trying to improve my woodworking skills I gave myself a homework assignment of making a hutch. I'd give myself a B, maybe a B+ for this one. There is hidden storage under the counter-top and under the bottom shelf (inside the cabinet). Wood is Douglas Fir. The green is stain; I...
  17. Bright Glasses Box

I call this my "Bright" Glasses Box. On the top of the box is a variation of a "Rolling Star" quilt pattern. The glasses box is about 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" and 2 1/4" high on the outside. Inside it is 2 3/8" x 5 3/8" x 1 1/2". I made it using 132 pieces of wood cut in either diamond or triangle...
  18. 1950s Cass Toy Co Pirate Chest Restoration

This 1950-60s Pirate Chest made by Cass Toy Co is my father's. His parents gave it to him as a birthday gift when he was young and it has been through hell and back. He asked if I could restore the chest so he could use it to display and store some of his record collection. He wanted to keep...
  19. Ear Ring Holders (02)

Just to show that scrap pieces can come to life. These ear ring holders are made from scrap pine, masonite, plywood flooring, particle board & coasters. I had too much scrap hanging around the shed and like most woodies wouldn't throw any away. Our friend who runs the hospital charity stall will...
