These are a couple of boxes I made for my two older sisters. They both have just had 50th wedding anniversaries, so I decided on (almost) matching boxes as my gift to them. The boxes are made from Jarrah and the inserts are Huon Pine. The construction is just mitered corners with rebates for...
  6. These Little Dollys Didn't Stay at Home

The striped dolly took a lot of gluing up, Titebond 111. the result was ok but the hat chipped out so I had to square off the edges. The other lesson learned was with the other dolly. The dress part only needed short blanks glued in that region to get the different coloured effect, rather than...

This has been on my to do list for a couple of years and I'm elated with the result. The box is made from Huon pine and what I'm calling "Thai teak". 9. Another Jarrah and Huon Box

This box is similar the the earlier two. I went for two small trays this time, just for a change, and used curly jarrah for the lid. Still haven't gotten to the ring holders yet, but that'll come… eventually. I finished the Jarrah with spray lacquer and wax, while the huon Pine got a coat of...

  16. Butterfly Interaction

This piece was done initially when I was on holiday for a couple of days down the coast. The main shape of the piece found was worked around and not altered much...

Janet had a birthday approaching, and I thought I should get into the shed and make something nice for her. Here in Tasmania we have a wonderful timber called Huon pine. It's used by boatbuilders because it won't rot and it's great to work with, giving a beautiful smooth finish. Anyway I'm a...

  19. Power Tools, Hardware and Accessories
Can anyone recommend a supplier that would have a reverse thread 5/8" arbor nut and washer? I'm not coming up with much success.
