  1. 'Sisiutl' picture frame

The NW Haida people have a myth of 'Sisiutl' a double headed sea monster transforming to human at the bottom of the frame. The final piece has glass held in place with Copper piping and has 2 long locks of my horses hair. It's done out of Oak which I find very hard to manipulate wtih small...
  2. Coastal Plaque, Frog and SeaHawk

This 15" diameter x 4" deep plaque is carved out of Purpleheart and was a bear to do. The chrome plated sun rays are off set from the bottom of the carving which has a light embedded in it to shine off of the chrome. Embedded in the surface is abalone and copper, traditional material in the...
  3. Happy Sun Jewelry box

This is the second piece I carved in the Haida style. The box was off the shelf from woodcraft and I embeded some detail inlay along the bottom. Aeromatic cedar has been added inside bottom and woven in the top.
  4. This was my first carving

I did this 4"x4" HAPPY SUN back in 2001 in Basswood with only xacto blades. It was used for the jewlery box but in relief.

I did this quite a few years back, and finally got some decent pictures of this. This one was made from an old telephone pole. Uncle Dave brought me the picture and I used a chainsaw, plunge router, a dremel and a chisel.

Good Day LJ's! I'm considering purchasing a doweling jig/tool to open up some additional (quick and easy and strong) joinery options. The two I'm looking at are the Dowelmax and the Freud Doweling Joiner - Both can be had for about $300. I've searched high and low and can't find much in the...
  8. Woodworking Skill Share
For all you Arts and Crafters out there, there is a very fine show at the Dallas Museum of Art called "Gustav Stickley and the American Arts and Crafts Movement" It's there until May. It was more extensive than I imagined it would be and it featured many items that I had never seen before. If...
  9. Power Tools, Hardware and Accessories
I am having trouble with my Powermatic 14" bandsaw tension. I've owned the saw for about 2 years and it's worked great. Recently the blade became very loose. I could not seem to get it tensioned properly. I tried new blades and so messing with the tension arm and so forth. The sliding bracket...
