  1. Maple Walnut Clock

There are 12 months in a year and 12 hours on a clock. I built this for my father to keep track of birthdays and anniversaries for children and grandchildren. The hands are from Lee Valley. My wife used a Sharpie for the names. Maple walnut is my father's favourite ice cream.
  2. Coffee Table

I finally have the coffee table done. The top is wenge and the bottom is poplar. Dimentions are 20 1/2 (H) X 25 1/2 X 50" . I used pocket hole joinery as I wanted to try out my new Kregg pocket hole jig. Drawers are 3/4" poplar with 1/4" birch ply bottoms dadoed in. I wanted the drawers to...
  3. 4 Holiday Gifts Ideas You can Make

With all of us spending more time at home this year, I find myself spending time in the kitchen and cooking more than ever before. That why I decided to dedicate this year's DIY-holiday-gifts-you-can-make-out-of-wood edition to gifts for the kitchen. I made everything out of scraps of Ash wood...
  4. Texas Wooden Flag

I had a couple of extra fence pickets I wanted to use and made this guy. After painting, I beat the crap out of it with various tools and sanded some of it off to give it a stressed look. A great simple and quick project for gifts to friends and family.
  5. Hexagon Coasters

I've been wanting to incorporate epoxy resin to a project, so I figured epoxy coasters would be a good place to start. Wanting to add a little flare, I decided to make hexagon coasters, using a hexagon cutting jig I made a while back (you can see the hexagon jig video here). To make the...
  6. My Little Girls Xylophone

This was one of the Christmas gifts that I made for my daughter (she'll be 2 on Feb 20); it is made out of Sapele and heartwood of a huge birch tree that I had milled from our property (the same birch that I made her crib out of :-) This project was actually 1 of 4 gift ideas that I video'd and...
  7. Dinosaur rocking horse!

Hello all, I finished this rocking Dino about a month ago and have not gotten around to posting it yet. I made it for my nephew who is a few months shy of 2 and I brought it with me when I went to visit them last time. Initially he was very reticent about it as it is a little big for him yet...
  8. Dip/Condiment Servers

I made three dip servers that would make great holiday gifts. Two I made from quarter sawn oak and coated them in lacquer, the other one I stained in ebony stain. They were fun to make and took less than 2 hours each to make. I have a complete build write up in my website if interested...

  11. Black and White Ebony Eyeglass holder

This basic box design was a welcome gift of my brother in law. It has black flocking and a foam bottom inside covered with leather so he can drop his specks into the box and not fear damage. The base is gaboon ebony, and the sides are black and white ebony. Fun to make.

  13. Designing Woodworking Projects
"" I am not a wood turner but when I saw this it got me thinking. Has anyone here done something like this? The idea of putting a silhouette of a child or other family member onto a turning would make a great gift in my opinion.

pictures of an early colonization by Chlorociboria aeruginascens Hey guys, Having recently decided that I couldn't continue refering to the blue-green stained wood as "stained by some mysterious fungi", I dug out everything I could find on Google and ended up with a boatload of pictures and...

  16. Off Topic Coffee Lounge
Hi All, There are a few gift giving events coming up and I would like to surprise my husband with woodworking related tools. However, I lack even the most basic knowledge of the trade to be successful giving wood working tools. If you can share ideas and brands you would like to get as a gift...
