  1. 2nd chair I made

another project I've already posted but did'nt do justice to it with one photo. I turned both front legs and mortise and tenoned the rest. Finished with polyurithane. I also burnt the ivy in the back of the chair which was fun
  2. iphone Holder

The iphone holder is made from scraps of exotic wood from my shop. To use up some small pieces of wood, I will laminate different wood types together when I am in the middle of a glue up or otherwise looking to distract myself with a random job. Of the four pieces that make up the iphone...
  3. Giving it the Boot!

A bit of whimsy in the shop this week. All my tools are on double locking castors and all get moved frequently. SO I'm either kicking the release paddles or prying them up with the toe of my boot - which is destroying the toe/sole of a perfectly good set. I stumbled across Roman-The Bootman and...
  4. Lamp-Wo&Man "Severing" External Ties..

Boy and Girls, Inspired by Ross Leidy's projects on 17 & 25 Dec 2021, and further spurred on by WFJ on 30 Dec & 3 Jan My primary objective was to create a cordless Man-Lamp. I wasn't after pretty but rather functional and designed my version in SketchUp (after getting the original model off...
  5. Patchwork USB memory sticks / jump drives / whatever else they're called

No piece of interesting wood is too small to be used for something! That's why my workshop and woodstore become dreadfully cluttered with offcuts. These little items are not going to make any noticeable difference to the clutter, but I'm delighted with the result. The slightly tapered one...
  6. iPod Holder Prototype

New car requires new holder for gadgets….... More info at
  7. Marble Machine Funbox

This box (Marble Machine) produces silly sounds… Put a bering ball on the red chute, it rolls down a carrousel chute which swings the ball to one of the 15 holes leading to different items to produce the sounds. The items are a door bell (on the red door!), clock gong (the black spiral thing)...
  8. Kerfmaker, what a fun little tool

I just finished my kerfmaker last night. Thanks to to all that posted their kerfmakers before me. (I still like mine the best ) ;-) I used scrap maple and mahogany. The bolt I had laying around. So, cost $0. What fun it is to work with, after the kerfmaker is tuned in to the width of the saw...
  9. Phone/Gadget Stands

After making a bunch of bandsaw boxes, I was left with some small chunks of wood that were cut from the interior of the drawers. They looked too good to throw away, so I ended up making these little phone/gadget stands out of them. The wood is western red cedar and pine.
  10. Power Tools, Hardware and Accessories
I bought this in York market last week but really don't have a clue as to what it's for. You know you're a Lumber jock when you buy…... It's around 9" long overall. Any ideas gentlejocks?
  11. Joinery
I am making two Morris chairs using plans and guidance from Marc Spagnuolo's Wood Whisperer Guild website. I have finished gluing up 2 chair sides (I am making 2 chairs so I have 4 sides total). I was wondering if I could use Unibond 800 for the mortise and tenon joinery instead of epoxy. My...

Vape pen stand As an amputee I have intense phantom pain that only a relief vape can stop. If you lay them on their side all the juice pools on the side instead of at the base of the wick. The vape pens themselves have a small, tippy, footprint that easily falls over even if your hand is steady...

  13. Hand Tools
Seems like there is no easy solution to the planeing issue….so if I am mainly doing cutting boards and boxes etc what do you think is the best solution to getting it all nice and smooth?
  14. Focus on the Workspace
I have a 25 foot hose that I got from woodcraft. It's great for cleanup, but it's a pain and is getting beat up during storage. I thought about making a reel for it using a cardboard tube and winding it up. would consume large space. I also thought about the old type fire hose on a rack thing...
