My wife bought two maps of Long Beach many years ago from local artist David Van Patten. Our two kids were away at college and we wanted to remind them where they were from. Well, many projects took priority, so I only now made frames for them (the kids have been out of college 4 & 6 years). My...
It is an attempted picture frame.
22" x 30"
Scrap maple and amber shellac.
It didn't come out awful, but it didn't come out great.
In future attempts, how do I glue up the mitered corners on something this big but thin? Videos I find on YouTube are all about small picture frame sizes that...
Hi there, this is my latest scroll saw work, I down load the pattern from Internet, printed and cut. It's about 59cm, or 23 inches. Material is Nogal plywood and backer the same material just opposite face.
Frame is a 30" X 24" made of cedar. It's purpose is to put a tee-shirt that is signed by all the participants of the function and presented to the widow of the primary organizer. It's a memorial to the many years he co-ordinated the function.
This is nothing special, but my solution to putting wood up and saving floor space. I don't have a shop, so I needed a place to store wood off the ground to make more space in the garage.
These 2×6 boards were left covering the pool when I bought this home. Good boards, so I saved them for...
Wanting to build a downdraft/outfeed table for a while now since I do a lot of sanding/shaping/carving with my intarsia, I searched LJ and the internet for ideas. I was happy with a style that I found through Clint Wenthur, the link to his project blog is here...
Not long ago I bought an airsoft shotgun, to play a few battles with friends and shot them down, but I didnt had a way to film the actual batle, like and first person shoter game. So I searched for some sort of mount to secure my gopro to the weapon.. Unfortunately I only found mount to smg and...
Just a simple frame for a mirror my wife wanted to go above the hutch in our dining room…it's still the rain season so the wood hasn't had much chance for UV exposure but I'm hoping it darkens up a bit over the summer. Enjoy.
Like I said before, I work for a trade show company and some times we get some interesting requests for booth furnishings. These guys wanted a grass hut with a platform hanging from the roof to hold there video projector. So that's what they got. I've never built a grass hut before so I had to...
I was informed that I we needed a corner cabinet to house a new television in what was going to become our exercise room. So I took up the challenge and went to work. I have never attempted a corner cabinet before and had not really thought about how they are constructed. This project taught...

While stationed in Wales many years ago I built a solid White Ash cabinet for my component stereo system. It was our only entertainment contact with the wider world because American televisions did not work there. Now it is obsolete and in the way. I did not want to throw it out. The thought...
This one is for my mom, and the other is for my soon to be mother-in-law. I used figured soft maple and purple heart. It's an 11×14 frame housing an 8×10 photo of my fiance and myself. I started with regular maple, but once I saw what that figured walnut was doing, I had to use something a...
This was our first real custom cabinet job, and it came out pretty darn good. When we walked in the lady had a no idea what she even wanted, just a blank stare. So after much thought and 3 different designs she went with the oversize vanity and two angled upper corner cabinets. We built the...
This was a unique project for me, in that, it was the first time that i started with a truly rough piece of lumber. The cedar log was found on some family property, belonging to my uncle. I wanted to do something nice for him to hang in his new cabin. This log presented an awesome...
This is a submarine door all made from recycled lumber. It is grafted into a standard door which is the door to my office at work. I made this all at home in my shop and installed it into my existing office door at work on the weekend. It has been up for almost a year and people still stop to...
Okay first thing is this is a display chest, it's not made for locking up the guns. The reason why I say this is every time I build a chest or cabinet that involves gun storage there is always some one who try's to lecture me about gun safety. These are items I build for my customers with there...
I have few plastic planters and they look ugly, so decided to make them more appealing and easier on the eye by building decorative barrel shell. Note that the rope is just decorative to hide the joints. The jointing pieces are cut from the template, that you can download...
Every year I do a different woodworking project to give away as Christmas presents, usually some form of artsy type thing. This years project is woodburned animal pictures in Figured Maple frames. Years ago I did a little woodburning as decorations on some turned bowls and liked the minimal...
