  1. Drill press table (vaccum mount DIY)

Drillpress table Vaccum hose mounting So it was time to finish up the little drillpress table with a vac hose mount. Simply some scrap wood, and threaded rod, nothing facy, but it flips sideways and up and down. A full instruction tour can be found on my blog Drillpress table and much more...
  2. Knife Handle

Svord is a New Zealand knife maker and their new Peasant Knife is a simple and beautiful thing but comes with a plastic handle in its cheapest form. I wanted the wood version but didn't want to pay extra for someone else to have the fun to make the handle ( actually they cheat and their handles...
  3. Backless Poplar Bookcase

About 3+ years ago, I decided to build a bookcase for my daughter's 10th birthday. At that time, I didn't have a planer and didn't know any better, so after making a little sketch plan, I went to the store (either HD or Lowes) and bought some poplar. As I recall, I paid about $220 for it...
  4. Drill Press Table

Inspired by the way Serge did clamps, and Steve Ramsey did inserts, here's my drill press table. Hardboard laminated onto MDF, 20"x12". Forstner bits and jigsaw to make the slots, as I was too lazy to remove my router from the router table. My hardboard inserts aren't beveled like Steve's...
  5. Drill press table w/insert

I finally got around to making my drill press table. In the first pic you can see my old "table" I threw together for a project and kept using for probably about 5 years! A neighbor had given me a piece of formed formica countertop and I wanted to use that for a table. I cut off all the formed...
  6. Center jig for drill press - recycled drill chuck (post)

Center jig for drill press recycled drill chuck. Here a small recycle project, giving new life to an old drill chuck, from a cordless drill I had trashed some time back. The jig: When drilling a hole in the centre of a dowel or other round objects, I always struggle to hit dead centre, so this...
  7. First Serving Tray

I made this tray as a gift for some friends who are marrying later this summer. They already have more than enough toasters and knives, so I hope that they enjoy this. It is made of cherry. The miter keys are a laminate of black walnut and padouk. I rounded the edges and corners more than on...
  8. My First Piece of Jewelry: Pink Ribbon, Pink Lyptus Pendant

This is a pendant I made for my wife. She will be participating in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure in San Diego in a little over a week. She just reached her personal fundraising goal to help find a cure for breast cancer. I was going to give this to her right before she left next week...

  10. box in a box

I have seen a number of jocks post their box in a box creations so I finally thought I should try to make one of my own. It worked for the most part. I used a piece of scrap maple, a bad idea as it burned alot, no matter how slow I went into it. Funny thing though, it was only on three of the...
  11. Cubes

These are some 2.3" cubes from a piece of sapele. They are made by drilling using forstner bits of two sizes into each of the six sides. You are supposed to set up a depth stop on the drill press, but i did them by eye. A good plan would be to set up a quick jig for precise drilling.
  12. Drill press table

I took this design from a few source's on YouTube & Shop notes Magazine. I used 1" ply wood wrapped in melamine to start. Adding the Kregtool t tracks for attaching the fence as well as clamping & jigs. I also routed out a circle to insert a replaceable backing plate. This is my first shop jig...
  13. Painting Easel

Painting easel for my wife. Had some fun with this one. I'll eventually get some more pics up - not all the detail is visible in these. The rear leg is attached with brass chain and a hinge, At the bottom is an adjustable "A" to allow for tilting of the easel to full vertical or back about 10...
  14. Drillpress Table

I'd been contemplating a better work surface for my DP for sometime but had a mental block in how to execute it. Having stumbled upon the LJ web site i found plenty of inspiration. I wanted to make it my first project post. As you can see my DP is a Delta 12 inch bench top model. I have mounted...

  18. Power Tools, Hardware and Accessories
I've searched to see if anyone had already posted info specific to this RAS, but came up blank. So my first question is, does anyone have one of these units. These saws were build in the mid 60's. This is one of many items I now own since my dad's death. It seems to be in great shape. At...
  19. Power Tools, Hardware and Accessories
I bought a 9" craftsman drill press on craigslist for 70$ to drill pen blanks since I was messing it up with a regular drill. but the travel of the chuck (quill) is not long enough to drill the hole in one pass on a 2 1/4" blank. The ruler on the side shows 2". Needless to say I am...
