  1. Woodcarving
Was given a piece of maple burl that had a lot of character in the wood. Very fragile and it was a challenge to carve the boot. Finished with several coats of shellac. Enjoy the project.
  2. Toy Chest for the Nephews

Its been a while since I last posted as I've been working on a toy chest for my nephews. Unfortunately, the camera was on the fritz, so I don't have any more images prior to the assembly of the chest and the finished product. I've always found chests/boxes to be fun to make and this one was no...
  3. Mule Head Boot Jack

I've been a MIA Lumberjock for awhile now, so I'm jumping back in. I made about 40 "head" of mules last year for Christmas presents and sold a bunch to subsidize a new planer. I have mule loving friends around the world and many wanted one of these "jacks". The jack helps to remove boots or...
  4. Alder and Pine Storage Bench

Haven't been to Lumberjocks in a while…..busy or something. This is alder and pine. Make the most of whatever wood you choose to use. I'm trying to let the bends of my mind enter the work a bit more. Bruce

  7. Carving experiments

After I carved what I was hoping would be a loon but ended up no quite proper, I picked up a book and tried to follw the plans for carving the pup and boot. They didn't turn out so well but the basic structures are there. Plus had fun creating them which is the important part.

I really didn't want to do this but I had to repost it so it I would have it in my project area. As this is my first proper 3D carving I really had to have it here. This is the origional post here There is more photos there and my initial thoughts after I had finished it. And this is the link...
  9. Cowboy Boot

This boot pattern came from "First Projects for Woodcarvers". I carved it out of a piece of 2×4 SPF. At 1 1/2 inches it is a bit thick for this project. The book recommends a thickness of 1 inch to 1 1/4 inch. 3/4 is way to thin. Anyway, this was a first for my and my new Flexcut knife. I...
  10. Off Topic Coffee Lounge
I was thinking who in the Los Angeles area would be interested in meeting every cpl of weeks or once a month for breakfast or any meal or drinks? We could pick local resturants or do this at one anothers home on the floor of the wood shop ( kidding). I was thinking there seems to be alot of...
  11. CNC Woodworking
I just got my cnc router up and running, and the first thing I needed to make is a dust collection boot so that I can keep the mess down. I made a video about it. Check it out:
  12. Designing Woodworking Projects
Ok, here is my latest "in progress" project. I am wondering what you guys think? Would you stain all the pieces of the shelf before gluing it together, or do the glue up and then stain the project? What do you think the best way is to hang this shelf on the wall? I was thinking of just making...
  13. Finishing
I need to find an economical source for good sandpaer. Just normal, standard sheets in standard grits etc. Any HELP is much appreciated. I have tried the H-F and a few other cheap places etc. Price was not too bad; sandpaper was junk though! Any good online sources?? I have checked E'Bay with...
