  1. Winding Sticks for Summer 2017 Suprise Swap

This is a pair of Winding Sticks that I made for the Summer 2017 Suprise tool Swap. They are made out of Bolivian rosewood with hard maple inlay. I also used maple dowel to connect them together when not in use. These were made for GR8HUNTER in the swap.
  2. April Surprise Swap Take 2 1/2 !!!

Okay this is a Grooving plane that I made out of Beech. The wedge is out of Walnut. It cuts a 1/4" groove about 1/2" up on the board. It's great for half blind dovetails when you need to get the groove inside the tail. The last pic is of a pair of Winding Sticks. They are made out of Bolivian...
  3. Around the world by jewellery box

Perhaps a jewellery box isn't the first thing you'd think of when contemplating a trip around the world (unless you are Kim Kardashian, perhaps). However, the box I made for a club fund-raising raffle provided a bit of globe trotting adventure, at least in the origins of the various timbers...
  4. "Legacy"

The "Legacy" cribbage board/boxes were created in honor of the father of one of my best friends. A cribbage board was created for each family member, five all together, as a memorial of his passing. Joe Bernard was a great man and an amazing cribbage player. He was the sixth person to earn a...
  5. Rosewood Floating Box

Hey all, a little while ago a friend of mine contacted me and asked if I had time to build a special project for him to give to a close friend of his. My friend has been very kind to me over the years, giving me a whole bunch of wood for free at various times; from koa to teak, oak and some...
  6. Danforth Standard Digitrola

Here's the blog post about how I made it. http://lumberjocks.com/Duckarrowtypes/blog/13725 Basically you're looking at a home-made MP3 player using natural horn amplification. In this project I discovered that I'm allergic to Marado (Bolivian Rosewood)! ACK! Consequently I finished the...
  7. My wife got a new job...

Which, of course, will mean new business cards. And … of course … THAT means she'll be needing a way to display them, on her desk. AHA ! A PROJECT :-) For the woods: Wenge, Maple, Bolivian Rosewood Morado, Padauk, and Jatoba (not in that order !): Slice 'em, dice 'em, glue 'em up, and...
  8. Bolivian Rosewood, Curly Maple & Wenge Jewelry Box

When I saw this piece of Rosewood I knew that it had to become something special. So I took my time and decided I would try something a little different. I used the method of inserting a medallion that is so wonderfully demonstrated by our fellow LJ Boxmaker Andy . Then I decided I would "dress...

Pau Ferro: Alternative to East Indian Rosewood We have a new article on Pau Ferro wood on our website. Due to CITES restrictions on Dalbergia Rosewoods, we're seeing more and more interest in Pau Ferro. Although it's not a true rosewood, it's sometimes referred to as Bolivian Rosewood or Morado.
  10. Finishing
I'm preparing to start my first attempt at spraying a finish on a project. I have been practicing with the sprayer using water with food coloring in it. I seems to me that I will be using considerably more finish using a sprayer than by brushing it on. Is this a normal fact of using a sprayer...
