Today my wife was feeling crafty. She saw a similar idea on Pintrist. We added to the idea by giving some of the barn boards the burned look with a tiger torch and wire brush. Any thoughts on these? My wife is considering a few local farmers markets and would like some feedback on what ones are...
Wanted a new clipboard so I made several out of barn boards. Wanted something sexy too. Most clipboards are biscuit jointed together with inlays for strength and color. Not bad for sitting in a haymow for 80 years. Still working on several more designs. I don't want any two the same.
King size bed made using reclaimed barn board. The stone and wooden barn was originally built in 1805. In 2015 repairs were made to back of barn and salvageable material was stashed away. I was approached by a client earlier this year and was asked if I would be interested in making this bed he...
My sister-in-law's father found this wood on his father's farm after his father passed away. He brought it back to Ontario and stored it in his workshop until he decided upon a suitable project for it. Sadly he passed away before he could do anything with it. I inherited several of his tools...
I just moved to the Springfield, MA area and my wife has quite a few projects lined up for me. I was wondering if someone knew where I could find some good refurbished wood in my area.
Thank you for the help.
I need to build some bunk beds for my growing family. I read a FWW article and it said soft maple is a good 'low cost' lumber. It is readily available at my lumber yard but I worry about my ability to give it a dark stain.
Does anyone have experience with soft vs hard maple? Or anything else...

My first post here, even if I have been reading this forum quite a lot.
Here is my situation.
I want to install a vise (groz DQ-7) on my workbench freshly built. The top of the workbench is made of 2 layers of 3/4 MDF and a 3/4 plywood. There is a glued maple apron (1.25"x3") around...
I'd like to get started in carving but really clueless about chisels and what are good brands. Master Grip sounds to me like some made in Taiwan cheapies that won't hold an edge in the softest woods, but this set looks tempting. The only information the seller provides is that it's a brand new...
I've been losing the battle on getting this knife rack up to snuff over the past week. About $30 on rare earth magnets (supposedly the strongest readily available magnets there are), and the rack will just barely hold up a USMC Ka-bar knife. I used that knife as a model because the majority of...
