I love to create. It doesn't matter much what the materials are, so long as I am crafting. I enjoy woodworking, primarily with my scroll saw. I'm slowly learning to use a lathe too.
In addition to my woodworking, I sew, quilt, knit, crochet, embroider, needle felt, and make a variety of types of jewelry. My favorite thing to make in all types of crafting is toys.
I also enjoy combining my skills. I'm working on some new patterns that require woodworking, wool, and a bit of leather too. It's tremendously fun.
My main goals right now are to finish building my home since I just bought my first piece of property (at only 27 years old too!), pay off my new Excalibur 21" scroll saw, and get a website going where I can sell my patterns. I'm disabled and have been out of work for a few years. I'd like my creativity to be able to pay the bills. I'm not well enough to manufacture the wonderful handmade items in the quantities needed to make a living, but I sure can pump out exciting new patterns for all of my craft types!

Welcome, Kim! I just saw your post on another thread and thought I would say ‘hi’. I just got an Excalibur saw too not too long ago and LOVE it. I know you will too. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

I’d not gotten the chance to even see an Excalibur in person before I committed to buying one, so I was a bit nervous. When I found out that’s what you and Steve Good had both moved to, I felt a bit better. When it arrived, I fell in love.
I can’t wait to get my home built now. (I’m working on a dovetailed oak cabin on my first ever piece of property) Right now, I’m staying in my parent’s little walk out basement room. 350 sq ft is just too small for a person and 2 dogs. What’s eating me alive though is the gas expense. My new saw is a full gallon of gas round trip away from me right now. I’ve been using it every single day so far. I might have to take today off though. I seem to have overdone it yesterday. Not only did I make 5 necklace pendants, I also helped my friend’s 3 kids in the garage and finally got their dad set up on my old saw. Chronic pain + 3 hyper and excited little boys = impending disaster!
Oh, AND I went and picked up some stunning glass pieces on freecycle. I’m going to cut out openings in some of the upper kitchen cabinets I got for my house and put in the glass when I get to refinishing the donated kitchen cabinet set. No wonder I need a rest day!

That is really cool, Kim! I wish we had ‘freecycle’ here too. I wish you luck in getting your home finished and look forward to getting to know you better. :)
