I was amazed to see this today.. It’s hard to believe that just about everything is made out of oak, including the press screw!—and its still the original one!
I keep coming across amazing things like this. A blog post can contain items that serve as inspiration, so I think this fits.

That is pretty cool. How would you make a screw like that in 1860? Especially that big. And that oak beam would have been a pain to get in there at 30”x30”x30’.

I have a cider press that my great grandfathers that I still use. Steel screw and nut but the rest of the parts are made of oak. I’ll be pressing out my annual 30 gallons of cider part for normal consumption part (10 gallons) for hard cider. YUM
