Location: Myrtle Beach, SC

I guess you could say working with an around wood is in my genes. My grandfather and several of my uncles have been construction workers. My father worked as a linesman for the power company, mainly operating on telephone poles.
I got my first taste (not literally) of wood when I began college at Clemson University. I began to learn to play guitar. I also took a class that required us to walk around campus and identify tree species (because unlike the other major school in the state, we actually have a campus.....with trees). A couple of years after graduating, I ordered a custom guitar from One of the most important decisions when ordering a custom guitar is picking the woods. I researched how maple would add treble to the sound, while mahogany would emphasize the lower tones. I made my selection, and have been very satisfied with the result.
I really didn't get to my first actual wood working until a large water oak died in the front yard of my in-laws house. They are big on Christmas ornaments, and so I decided to take a large piece of the tree (which they were just going to burn) and make 4 Christmas ornaments. I loved it.

I see in your profile pic that you’ve had a bronze statue made of yourself. Where is that located exactly? :)
