Location: San Rafael, Ca.

I started learning wood working in my grandfathers' shop when I was around 9 or so. he made furniture in the old northeastern tradition if I remember him right. (I especially liked the lathe) I always loved wood objects. period. I became a musician for 20 yrs. and saw a good portion of the world. I quit that and went into yacht restoration for 30 yrs. till now. I'm semi retired now and I work a little here and there still. I work on my 1928 LAKE UNION DREAMBOAT now. it's beautiful. I live aboard full time now. I like to learn about furniture making and other projects and also the tools themselves. I rely on the knowledge of others for ideas and answers to secrets of the trade.

Happy to be here; stratman

Welcome to LJ’s. Always room for another boat guy. I do love the Lake Union Dreamboats. I’ve never had one but I did own a 1931 bridgedeck cruiser of rumrunner lines for several years. She was a real beauty and had almost all her original putty in her seams. She was built on Elliot bay so she was a relative of the dreamboats.
