« Part 13: Fuming day Part 14 of Morris Chair build ala. Wood Mag. plans series no next part

Cracked .pdf files for leather pattern with Inkscape. Saved as .dxf. Deleted text and dims and scaled back to full size. Then dumped the files into our CNC corrugated cutter at work and made templates.

Laid templates out on the hide to avoid hump hole, etc…

Traced templates with a silver Sharpie.

Cut to the line with beastly new HD shop scissors.

Making your own leather cushions, that’s impressive.

The only upholsterer I could get a response from wanted $1,000 and that just wasn’t gonna happen

My hat’s off to you. That’s not easy.

Well there’s still the distinct possibility that i’m going to screw this up, so for now you might want to keep your hat on.

Very impressive build so far.

I am jealous because building a chair is on my bucket list and I have no idea where to start.
Although I’ve engineered chairs from other designers for mass production at furniture houses, designing and building my own chair design seems a monumental task.

Even building a classic such as your Morris chair seems to be a very exacting exercise.

BTW, so glad you didn’t fumigate yourself as well as the chair.
