transforming wing back leather chairs into custom rocker for cabin #2: Working out the rocker radius by trial and error.

The radius on the original design was 60”. This was figured from a finished seat height of 20” x pi. The speed of the rocking motion was too fast, and the finished seat height was too high also. I shortened the radius of the rocker from 60” to 42”. This meant back to the drawing board on the design of the rockers, but the improvement of the rocking motion was well worth it! Now, it feels more like a rocking chair should. Good slow smooth rock, and a stable feeling that doesn’t make you feel like you are going to tip over. The finished seat height is now approximately sixteen inches before setting in the chair. It goes to about 14 inches when seated...
