Zero clearance fence for the mitre saw

You'll see an improvement in cut quality, and accuracy improves simply because you can cut off the line left from the blades previous path. What you have done will allow movement through the complete range of possible cuts.

If a person is an average user of a miter saw, and makes mostly straight 90's they could just use the good double sided tape, and make a solid piece for the deck, as well as a solid piece for the fence, and cut through both, this leaves an almost perfect zero clearance on all aspects of the cut, cut quality, and accuracy both increase to as good as can be gotten from a saw that typically isn't considered accurate.

That is a handy tip for any mitre saw… however, a Kapex is not any saw…

Nevertheless, everytime I used to use mine, I pondered what the designer was smoking when he placed those "holes" on the turntable. I just about adopted the practice of cutting two of every small piece as it was inevitable it'd drop down one of those holes.

I did manage to overcome that by using a 3mm MDF "plate" over those mongrel small piece gobblers,

As for the "holes," my guess is that they're cut-outs for weight reduction. One of the benefits quoted by many trade people is that it's a lot lighter than its competitors for site use.

And the Kapex handle is turned the wrong way. I now have carpal tunnel.

I heard of comments from people not liking the vertical handle, but this is the first time ever I learned of a remark about its deign causing carpal tunnel!

I usually hear those type of complaints about my TP mounted the wrong way.

chuckie, you are probably listening to dyslexic southpaws using a right handed grip on the Kapex's ambidextrous handles. They have to fabricate a complaint, as they can't fault the efficiency/quality.

Of course, the Kapex is not the only miter saw featuring the vertical handle. Makita LS 1018, for example, has a similar design. Or the Hitachi/Metabo HPT C12RSH2, for that matter.

CTS can be diagnosed and cured without surgery if attended to in its early stage. But it's important to find out the real cause first as each individual's case can be different. I'm pretty sure anyone who faults the Kapex for their hand ailment can dispose of their saw in the second market with little difficulty.

I remember something similar with one of my staff when working in the computer industry back in the 80's… Wanted to sue for keyboard aggravation… Turned out to be there long before he joined my group from his guitar playing ventures.

And he didn't own a Kapex.
