Project Information
Well, it's been a loooooong time since I've posted any projects on here…so even though I don't have the finish on this one quite figured out yet, I thought I'd go ahead and post it in it's natural state.
I started on this carving back in OCTOBER of last year (if you can believe that!!). Not that it was such a complicated carving that it took me 5 months to complete…..it just got put off between the holidays, the kids, yadda, yadda. Mostly it just sat there in the garage barely started until a couple of weeks ago, when all of a sudden I somehow got a fire lit under me to get the darn thing done. I really don't like the feeling of leaving projects unfinished (although it does seem to happen).
Anyhow, the design with the tree and the 2 wolves came from the Lora S. Irish book- Wildlife Carvings In Relief….although I did change a few things about it to sort of make it my own. The border of leaves, acorns, and twigs was also inspired by other carvings I found in the same book, but I just sort of used that as inspiration to come up with my own border and didn't copy exactly from the book. It was carved in pine, as you can probably tell.
I'm thinking about trying something a little different with the finish…so we'll see how that goes. I'll re-post it when it's DONE, done. Probably not my best carving of all, but it had been a while so this was my "getting back into the groove of carving" carving! lol! ; )
