Project Information

I've been working on this for couple of months. Definitely some inspiration from others on this site like Dakotawood. The case dovetails were cut with my Leigh D4R (nothing to see here ha!). I cut the box joints for the doors and drawers with it as well. Hand cut look so much nicer with the narrow pins, but this was meant to be a more functional than furniture piece for me. It's certainly helped motivate me to get my shop organized, but now I've got all that room in my roll away toolboxes to fill back up! Tool acquisition syndrome will have to be resisted.

Still have a few tools to hang but it's as good as done. Bought a new Veritas bullnose plane to fill a spot on the till as a reward of course but it's back ordered for a few days. Threw a couple of palm planes in for now to take up some space in the meantime. Have some space for future plane or two. Will be building a separate cabinet at some point for guitar tools specifically.

I'm humbled seeing some of the work on this site but am pretty proud and happy with having finished this beast. Mike Pekovich has a great plan here. Watching the videos helped a lot in picking up some details not readily apparent on the plans.

Definitely had to pay close attention to clearances for the doors and ensuring tools cleared doors and other tools to allow them to close. Setting the inner doors in by 1/4" was needed to clear the larger plane knobs.

Awesome! Bit jealous of all the chisels too. :)

Ha! You gotta like the old 750 and 720 Stanley's. I have been collecting users and new old stock ones for a long time. I'll be selling off some of the new old stock ones in time, but love the users I have.

That is nice. I don't have the wall space. Maybe in my dream shop. Thanks for posting

Really very nice work. Very functional. This will become one of your favorite tools. Maybe #1. When, closed, what are the dimensions? Also, when the doors are open? Thanks for sharing and inspiring.

It's Mike Pekovich's dimensions mostly although the boards I had were just a tad short, so 41" x 32" x 10" deep plus 3" deep doors. 73" wide opened.
