This is a yarn swift I made for my wife who knits like a grandma on crack. She unravels the new skeins and places the yarn around the dowels then uses the winder to make a "cake", which makes it easier to knit without everything getting tangled. Nothing fancy about the construction, just notched pairs to make the crosspieces and holes to hold the dowels. The upper crosspiece rests on a bearing to reduce friction. Works great!
