Knitters appreciate these ... they place their yarn on the shaft and the "Yarn Butler" rotates effortlessly to release the yarn as you knit or crochet. My version of the "Yarn Butler" uses lazy susan hardware that turns on ball-bearings for smooth operation. The shaft is about 5-1/2" tall and rotates on a base that is about 4" in diameter.
