Project Information

This yarn bowl was ordered from the last craft sale.
It is made ofspalted Box Elder and is 8 1/2" diameter and 5" high and finished with Danish oil and buffed and waxed. I got into some knot holes when the rough wood was turned away and they were filled with turquoise

Cheers, Jim

Thanks Dick, Pottzy and Eric!!

Hi Dick. I made a cardboard template and traced it onto the bowl. Then I drilled one hole at the farthest in point and put a tiny blade on my Dewalt jigsaw and cut real close to the line. I finished the slot with a small sanding drum on a Dremel . You could cut them in your bowls too!!,...Cheers, Jim

Beautiful bowl and excellent grain. Did you have to use anything to hold the cracks and crannies together while turning. Excellent job !!! Mel

Thanks Mel and Dave.

Hi Dave. It is a hunt and search to find how to do it each time. It was so much better when we had the tabs up above on the frist page and they were intuitive. I still don't get any notices of any posts on my E mail page like I used to. do you all get them????????????...................Cheers, Jim

I got over 100 emails on the first day, thanks to an active conversation, Jim. Since then, I shut off all the email notifications and have been trying to get some combination of “Alerts” (without email notifications) plus the “NEW” pages to show something similar to what I got from pulse. I’m still tweaking things to try and get it sorted.

I expect I’ll eventually get there, but as I mentioned in another thread, I’m writing less around here at the moment, because I’m too busy trying to find where things are. Hopefully that’ll switch soon, since I’ve got a couple projects that are just about wrapped up, and I’d like to “blog” another one I’ll be starting soon.
