This writing desk and top hutch is for a friend's daughter. It is made with red oak stained early American with 2 coats of sanding sealer and 2 coats of lacquer, sprayed. The legs are made with 3 laminated boards each, cut out using a pattern made of MDF. The curved top was done with three straight pieces of 3/4 plywood, joined at the corners with the curved pieces. To make the curve, I made a curved piece of MDF for a pattern, screwed it to pine wood pieces, used the router and flush cutting bit to cut 15 pieces for each side and glued them together to make a 11" thick curve. I then used pocket screw joinery to attach to the straight pieces, and covered with oak veneer on both sides. Drawers are pine and walnut with the corners box jointed together. The corners of the desk apron have mortised holes for the screws into the legs, then flush walnut pegs glued and driven into the square holes.
