Project Information

This has been a long time coming. Working without a proper bench has been a bit of a pain.

A big thanks to Mike VanPelt at American Sycamore. I never would have found the time to get this built on my own. 2 days with Mike and we knocked this beautiful bench out. A little more clean up and a few coats of finish and I'll be good to go!

Bench is maple with walnut accents. Top is 2.5" thick with 5" X 2" outer rails. I finished the base with 2 coats of Polywhey from Vermont Natural Coatings. The top gets several coats of an oil/varnish blend that Adam King recommended.

That's a real nice job. Caught my eye as I just "finished" my bench. Actually still need a face vice, but the wagon vice is sweet. Your design is making me think to go with an end vice like yours. That is a single screw and not a chain right?

I also took a peek at your crib project. Nice job. I can relate to your spray booth. Looks like mine and probably just as fun to set up and take down. ;)

It's always nice to see a new bench on the site. You will kick your self for not building one sooner. Congrats and many happy years of woodworking….Blkcherry

Nice bench…..looks pretty sturdy (and heavy). You should get many moons of use out of it. Enjoy.
