Project Information

Hi,
I made some wooden wheels for my upcoming projects. Outer diameter 25 cm (approx. 10 inch). Material walnut and beech. To the hub I installed bearings. Treated with oil.
Unfortunately, I have not any bandsaw. Therefore, manufacturing was complicated. It consisted of many steps. I've attached some photos of the curved tread design.
Because my English is poor, I'm sorry, I did not comment on the photos. I hope they speak for themselves.
Thank you for watching.
All the best!

That's really neat. What are you going to use the wheels for?

You have enclosed bearings so no need to oil them. Just don't puncture the rubber seals on each side.

You did a very good job building the wheels. I can see lots of hours and lot of thinking went in to building them…

Thank you all for the words of appreciation!
The next project, where I will use the wheels will be a wooden wagon (similar to the gypsy wagon). Then a wheelbarrow also. For my granddaughter.
Have a nice day!

Tichomir, what a challenging project to take on without a bandsaw. Your large spindle sander certainly can make up for a multitude of small errors. I like your thinking and work-arounds for problems. Can you have a rim of some type? Toys for grandchildren are always a great projects. I am eager to see the wagon and wheelbarrow.

Al, Tony, Charlie, Ivan,
Thank you for the nice words.

I still do not know what the tire will be. I have no good idea.
Yes, it is a real challenge to manufacture complicated things with essential tools. There is a lot to think about. But it's worth.

Thank you! Have fun!
