Project Information
I finally made something for myself that was not shop related and can be used indoors. A bicycle stand. My garage is a disaster and there is major pitch with the floor so everything wants to roll away. If I lean my bike against something it just wants to fall and I can't have a chip in my carbon baby. So I came up with a with this design. I could have bought a metal one that does the same thing but it wouldn't be cool. This looks good in the house in every room. Yes, my bike does spend a lot of time in the house. Its art.
The stand is made from African Mahogany. I started with two pieces 30" long by 12" wide. Cut the arc's with a router and circle jig. Glued the two halves together. The fishtail is mortised in. I got to do a little hand tool work in. Finish is oil, wipe on poly and wax.
I'm pleased with it, but I might at some point and try the string inlay on the sides.
Thanks for looking.
