Project Information

I was feeling pretty good 4 weeks ago and made 3 projects. The first one is made from Rainbow Popler and it had alot of curl and minerial lines going althrough it.
After sanding to 600g I put on 2 coats of Deft UV inhibitor oil and then let it dry. The next day I buffed it using the Beall Buffing system. The mesurements are 11" tall and 3" wide and it is the first hollowform I made after my father in laws Urn. I never knew Rainbow Poplur looked to good.

The next two are Redwood burl boxes. Both boxes are 3"x3"

The first one has a pagora roof on it and the lid is hollowed out on the inside also
The second one looks like a capsele box made by Allen Keys in his DVD which I have availabe to loan out to anyone.

No finish yet on both of them, however, I will be doing the same to these as I did the vase above

Thanks for looking
Arlin

Here is the link where I buy most of my turning wood.

Hope it helps you and everyone else. Matter of fact I really really like their woods and selection. They ship fast and also send you quality wood.

Arlin, The rainbow popular is it a black color? Cool looking and it looks like you haven't lost your touch even if it has been awhile. Look forward to seeing more.

Thank you everyone for your kindness.

The popler is basicly a tan/yellow color, however, because of the many colors in this poplar which is why they call it Rainbow Popler

scrollmom that is the minerial steaks and swatchs in the wood brought up form the water supply.

I hope everyone checks these guys out because I really like they. (I have no montary or anything to do with them, just a happy customer.)

Thanks Dave

As soon as my lathe is fixed and the bench that it is mounted on is fixed I can start turning again.

Hi Arlin.
you can get in touch with me regarding the vertical chess board plans at [email protected] - I see that you do a lot of wood turning, I've just pick up a wood lath and trying my luck with turning wooden legs as I wish to make a harvest table. Do you have any tips for a newbe
