Project Information

Walnut live edge slab with quartersawn oak base and bowties. 40+ mortises and tenons. I was trying to glue up on my own and quickly desperation set in. Luckily a friend showed up at my shop and my look of horror required no words. He promptly grabbed a glue brush and we got it glued up!!! Lesson learned. Wife loves it. I also made a similar kitchen table bench. The walnut slab came from my father in law's property so it is a family heirloom of sorts. Finished in shellac.

I feel your pain. I wish I could find a glue with about 2 hrs open time. Turned out great, though. nice job.

I had a similar experience with a wine rack. I stained all the pieces before gluing, put it all together and slapped myself on the back. Then the whole thing slowly fell apart as the glue could not adhere to the oil-stained surfaces. I had to take it all apart, sand off some stain from alll 50+ pieces, and reglue. Live and learn. Well done with your piece, I love the walnut love edge.
