Project Information

After posting on my blog about the first wine ceremony box I was contacted by another couple to create one for them. they wanted a smaller box, only set to fit one bottle of wine and two letters

The opposing hearts theme I have been using on the lids has been popular, the client asked for something of the ocean to be carved on the inside of the box to commemorate their marriage ceremony on the beaches of Florida. So I carved a shell on the inside. A unique idea and a nice little reveal.

That's some really beautiful carving, and on a difficult wood. Your tools must be crazy sharp, not to mention your skills.

Beautiful job, and like Brian said Oak is really tough to carve! For me, it keeps splintering so I tend to stick with softer woods. If you want a nice looking wood that is great to carve, try Butternut wood. It will look every bit as good as Oak and be ever so much easier to carve!

I really like your carvings. They do look like something from the middle ages. What a nice feel and look they have. The wine ceremony is a nice idea, because you get to drink a little no matter what the future holds…sort of a win-win thing. Looks to me like the carvings are getting more intricate as you go along. Is the writing following the same path?

I like the series of circles on the front. They give the box nice movement. They remind me of ocean waves curling and rolling into shore. Beautiful box.
