Project Information

This is not my chair and I am not taking credit for it, I just wanted to post it to show how beautiful these chairs can be when a ture craftsman makes one, not like my simplified and cheaper version. This chair was made by Jonathan Black of Bella Barrel (www.bellabarrel.com). These are pics of one of his chairs I saw in a shop in St. Helena, CA priced at $750 ea. I have made a few now and they are posted on my LJ page. The biggest difference is the finish and attention to detail he did. I wanted to keep mine more rustic to feature the wine barrel influences and character. The sanding/finishing steps are my least favorite.

Well, that is a great design for the materials at hand. Looks very nice. Congrats to the designer. You should do well with those.

That is a darn good idea… I guess with so many wine barrels around 'the wine country', one has to be able to do something else with them. Planters & barrel chairs are a little old… Now, we can make an Adirondak!

Thank you.

I have an old oak wine barrel I had been saving to make into a kitchen table( if I ever finish the rest of the cabinets). I may have to try one of these chairs. It looks great! Nice job!!!

Finishing before assembly might make your job a lot easier. Then you only need to touch up here and there. This is the only deck furniture I prefer. That price is a little outragous, the guy who actually built it is getting that, or is that markup for resale?
