This is a project I ve been thinking about for a long time to blend the wind ,sun and water into one composition and the big Texas sky as my canvas. To do this I had to think how to make a transparent frame to use the big sky landscaping with the glass . I finally had the idea drop from my hopper one day to make a sail as the frame to hold the glass so as it looks like its moving . I used white oak using half lap joinery and dowels perpendicular to hold the angles tight and a epoxy water proof glue. I finished it with marine varnish. I set the whole frame in a welded base and went swimming to set it in my lake . I was amazed to see the glass twinkle with sounds like a wind chime against each other, reflecting the sun's light on the water shimmering along the reflected surface twisting back and forth as the wind moved the glass. The colored glass shadow astounding me with moving reflected white light moving all over like a mirrored glass ball spinning in the center of a dance floor. To witness the melding for the first time was invigorating similar to spraying laquer for the first coat on a freshly sanded quilted lumber. A truly poetic piece that fills my heart with a wonderful feeling of accomplishment and validates why I am just a guy who just makes things. I envision three sails together for a total composition like the photoshoped model I show a scale of thirty feet or higher. I see rounded spiraling wood with glass inside for a DNA sculpture twenty feet tall. The possabilites are endless once a concept is truly developed in tried and tested creations . It's similar to "once I disipated the ignorance of myself I was able to go on my spiritual journey". Amazing all this and Heaven too.
