Project Information
I recently designed and built this music stand as a birthday gift for my wife who is learning to play the guitar. I had some extra wenge and figured bubinga that I was holding onto for a special occasion and decided to use it for this project. After doing a little on-line research I came up with this design. Two things that I wanted to include in this project; aluminum and inlay. I used aluminum track and square aluminum tubing for the column and 1"dia solid aluminum for the feet. The gaboon ebony inlay is meant to resemble a blank sheet of music. I used a bridal joint for one set of legs while the other two are doweled. Finish is tung oil and hand wiped poly finished with a coat of wax. The hgt adjustment range is about 22" so that the stand can be used in a seated or standing position and a tilt range of about 25-30 degrees.
